Get to Know the Designers of FS2: Melissa Molnar

Name: Melissa Molnar
Year: Senior

What was your inspiration for your pieces in this year's show?

My inspiration for my senior collection was a child's imagination. I really wanted to focus on that concept and incorporate imaginative elements into the clothing. The elements I focused on were knights and dragons.

What are your future plans/career goals within fashion?

I currently am planning on relocating to Seattle after graduation. I would love to work for a children's company there. Nordstrom and Amazon are both located in Seattle and I would love to work for either of those companies.

What's the most valuable thing that you've taken away from your education at The Fashion School so far?

The most valuable thing I have learned from the fashion school is how to adapt. I studied abroad in both New York City and Florence, and being dropped in a completely different culture really teaches you a lot. You also have to adapt to how you work best to remain productive when it gets to the busy points in the semester. Adapting to teachers different styles is key too, it helps to teach you how to work well in the industry with all the different companies tastes and preferences.

Chanel's Visionnaire make up

We are so lucky to have Dillard's as a sponsor for this year's show. Liz Tadiello, the Assistant Store Manager at Dillard's Akron branch, arranged for Chanel to do the make-up for the Awards Show on April 25!

Make up artists Brian and Sean visited our class and set up a custom Chanel make-up station where they put together a few looks for the show. After learning the FS2 team's vision for the show, and looking at inspiration images, they came up with a clean, spring look that will be perfect with the variety of collections that will go down the runway.

We are so appreciative that Dillard's and Chanel took the time to meet with us. It was a wonderful opportunity for us to talk with industry professionals. We are excited to be working with such amazing brands!

Visionnaire

Welcome to FS2015! The production team is excited to be at it again. We hope you are as excited to see the Fashion School's student designers' work as we are. This year, The Fashion Schools Annual Fashion Show will be held on April 24th at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and April 25th at 7:00 p.m.

The production process thus far has included a lot of hard work, a lot of planning, and is a wonderful collaboration of creative minds. (And we’re just getting started!) We hope you’ll join us on this behind-the-scenes journey as we produce FSVisionnaire!
